Yes. I'm an Australian man. My Japanese ability is a similar level. I lived in Hyogo Prefecture for 18 months, a long time ago, and have been back there a few times: last year for a month, and the year before for 3 months, always to Hyogo. I study Japanese at home, but I don't use it enough. I write emails sometimes, but I don't speak to anyone when I'm in Australia.
