nowhere does it say using 髪 is outdated
take a proper look at the entry or use your browser's zoom function if you still can't see the difference between those two Kanji

Yeah, there are two different forms being compared there. The one you learned is the 新字体 and therefore obviously not outdated. The one marked as outdated is the 旧字体. It's admittedly a bit hard to spot the difference at the scale in question.

Woow, the difference is just one single brush stroke above 友 to the right 💀 I never would have noticed it

Hello! I am wondering about the note on this kanji saying it
s usage is outdated. I learned this kanji in an intermediate Japanese class, and they didn
t make mention of this. Is it actually outdated? Will you just see the hiragana instead most commonly in Japan nowadays?
